Who we are

PRIDE-CZ Association of PRIDE trainers form the Czech Republic.. Our mission is to bring the PRIDE model into Czech practice as a comprehensive approach for working with children at risk and foster and adoptive parents. We promote all 14 steps of the PRIDE model.

The Association is a group of people who like the idea and philosophy of PRIDE, mostly PRIDE trainers. The Association provides professional support to PRIDE trainers. It aims to strengthen teamwork and improve the quality of care for families and children at risk. We offer education for this purpose. If these ideas and goals are close to you consider whether you also want to become members of the Association.

About PRIDE

PRIDE (Parent Resources for Information, Development, and Education) Model of Practice has increased opportunities to provide a standardized, consistent, structured framework for the competency-based recruitment, preparation, assessment, selection, of foster and adoptive (resource) parents, and for foster parent in-service training and ongoing professional development. The PRIDE Model of Practice is used, in whole or in part, across the United States and in more than 25 countries.
The PRIDE Model of Practice is built upon five core competency categories developed through comprehensive role analysis:
• Protecting and nurturing children;
• Meeting children’s developmental needs and addressing their delays;
• Supporting relationships with birth families;
• Connecting children to safe, nurturing relationships intended to last a lifetime (permanency); and
• Working as a member of a professional team.

The Project supported by The Visegrad Fund: Child in a Kinship Care – Preparation and Further Support of the Families

The project will allow comparison of the childcare system in partner’s countries, as well as with other countries in Western and Northern Europe or North America. All partners had been selected with the ambition to promote the topic, to change the system in each of the participating countries. The conference aims to offer a comparison of approaches and workflows in different countries to enrich each other’s practices, share experiences, and establishing long-term international cooperation. We intend to welcome approx. 100 colleagues from around 20 different countries to talk about the topic. The situation in the countries of all partners will be mapped before the conference. At the conference itself, interesting approaches (examples of good practice, etc.) of partners or representatives of non-partner countries will be selected for the presentation. The conference proceedings will be compiled into the language of all partner countries and will be available also in Czech and English. These proceedings will be distributed to the respective countries through partner organizations. The partner organizations will also propose a procedure for implementing the necessary measures to develop or support the care of the children with relatives in the country. Afterwards these activities are not part of the project. The aim of the project, however, is to prepare specific proposals for changes in partner countries and the Czech Republic, together with a proposal for implementing these changes in local practice.
Our partners in project are: Towarzystwo Nasz Dom from Poland, Family, Child, Youth Association from Hungary, Úsmev ako dar from Slovakia, FICE SRBIJA from Serbia, SOS Children’s Villages in North Macedonia and also in Ukraine.
